Today we're taking a look at the security strap for Yakima Trunk-Mounted Bike Racks or Bike Carriers. This provides an economical security option for your trunk-mounted bike rack.It attaches easily to your bike rack with the integrated loop. You find a fixed point on your bike rack, place the strap around, take this, feed it through the loop, and then what happens when you do that is you've created a cinch tie-down point. Just like that. Then the other end secures inside your locked trunk or rear storage area, preventing removal of the rack when the trunk or rear hatch is closed.The strap is a really nice design. It's abrasion resistant.
Also, at the center of the strap, full-length . You see it kind of has a little raised area right there It is constructed with reinforced steel. There's a steel cable that runs through the center. That's going to prevent somebody from easily being able to just cut through the strap.Also, the nice large bump stop here, that's going to do a great job at protecting your vehicle paint and finish. It's got the nice large foam pads.

We purchased the Hang Out to expand our biking options while camping.
Several years ago we purchased a Jack-It Aero carrier from e-Trailer to carry bikes on our TAG. It's a great option for transporting bikes T/F camp ground. But what do you do if the bike trails are a distance from where you’re camping? Enter the Hang Out. It takes up minimum space, mounts quickly to the Jeep and off we go. Bonus: We jettisoned a bulky, expensive hitch-mounted carrier and use the Hang Out for local bike excursions.

Great product! What good is it to lock your bikes to your trunk or hatch bike rack, when thieves can easily cut the straps and carry everything away? Using this steel reinforced trunk strap gives me much more peace of mind when I'm carrying my bikes, especially when parking my vehicle in a public parking lot. I wouldn't recommend relying on it if parking for any length of time in a high crime residential neighborhood. A hacksaw or small bolt cutters could probably defeat it fairly quickly. For me, though, I wouldn't be without it. It stays attached to my rack 24/7.
A really sturdy product. Its high visibility on the top of the trunk gives viewers that 'this rack is going nowhere but on this auto'.

This is not just a nylon web. It is steel reinforced, and appears to be difficult to cut through. I use it to secure my rack to my trunk. No issues with it. I would buy again.

I still love this product. I dont know if I have had any attempts at theft but the bike remains on my car 6 months out of the year

Couldn’t be more pleased with this product
Works fine. Only improvement would be to make it longer. With 2 bikes stacked on a rear carrier, it's hard to encircle the frames and get it to fit under the back gate of the car.

The security strap is the perfect addition to the portable bike rack, which is now no longer very portable by strangers. Ive used it constantly.
